Bombino - Tar Hani (My Love)


Omara “Bombino” Moctar is a prodigious new talent in Touareg music. Born in Niger in 1980, he was caught up in the armed rebellion there before settling in exile in Burkina Faso. A documentary about his life Agadez, the Music and the Rebellion was released earlier this year, along with an acclaimed debut album Agadez. An active advocate for Touareg culture and peaceful exchange, right now music is at the heart of his mission, and Bombino has returned to Agadez where this video was shot. A self-taught guitarist, Bombino pays tribute to Tinariwen and Ali Farka Touré for their inspiration, and to Dire Straits and Jimi Hendrix, whose cassettes also soundtracked his youth.

Listening to Tar Hani such a globalized moment can be sensed. This music Can be placed both in Burkina Faso, Los Angeles and Paris.
